Congratulations to the four researchers from the WEL Research Institute honoured this year by the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium:

  • Academy Prize for Biomedical Sciences to Amandine Everard for her research on the role of the gut microbiota in the mechanisms of reward and pleasure related to food.
  • Bekales Prize to Laure Bindels for her research on the influence of the gut microbiota in leukaemia progression.
  • Bekales Prize awarded to Grégory Ehx for his work on understanding how leukaemic cells evade the immune system.
  • GSK Vaccines Prize awarded to Xavier De Bolle for his research on developing vaccines against brucellosis.
